Black Gold Farms, a potato company based in Grand Forks, ND, approaches its sixth season of producing red potatoes in Texas. The Pearsall, TX-based farm, south of San Antonio, is one of several, nationally, operated by Black Gold.
Keith Groven, Black Gold Farms’ fresh sales manager, said exhibiting at the Viva Fresh Expo in San Antonio this March 31-April 2 is a very natural promotion for the firm.

Richard Ruiz, president of Ruiz Sales, a leading shipper of tropical fruits from Mexico, with an emphasis on Persian limes, believes the state of Texas is well positioned for prosperity in the future, owing to a favorable geographic location and improvements to infrastructure, especially around the Rio Grande Valley area.
SunFed promoting spring and summer line at Viva Fresh
Although the firm is based in Nogales, SunFed has long-distributed volumes of Mexican produce through South Texas. The firm operates a full-line warehouse in Pharr, TX.
This spring construction is starting on a new, full-line warehouse, also in Pharr, which gives SunFed all the more reason to be active in the Viva Fresh Expo, according to Brett Burdsal, SunFed’s vice president of marketing. The new warehouse won’t be completed until next spring.
Showcasing produce at Viva Fresh is important to The Vision Cos.
The Vision Cos., which comprises Vision Import Group, headquartered in Hackensack, NJ, and Vision Produce Co., based in Los Angeles, has many direct grower deals in Mexico. That means that showcasing produce grown there at the Viva Fresh Expo is important for the company.
Vision will exhibit at booth No. 99 at the event, being held March 31-April 2, at the JW Marriot Hill Country Resort & Spa in San Antonio.
