Potato industry teams with United Fresh Start Foundation to move salads bars to schools
Inspired by the United Fresh Start Foundation’s efforts to get the produce industry involved in the Let’s Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative, Blair Richardson, chief executive officer of the U.S. Potato Board, challenged the potato industry to donate salad bars to 300 schools each year as part of the program. The board leadership approved using assessment funds to match every salad bar donated by the potato industry starting in July 2015. Through February 2016, the potato industry has donated 84 salad bars, which have been matched by the board.

New grape varieties featured at SNFL Open Days in Chile

NatureFresh Farms’ Delta, OH, facility growing at a rapid clip
Leamington, Ontario-based NatureFresh Farms broke ground on Phase I of its new 180-acre greenhouse facility in Delta, OH, in April 2015. The 15.30-acre project was completed in late fall of 2015.
Chris Veillon, director of marketing for NatureFresh Farms, said the first tomato plants went in to the greenhouse on Nov. 26, and harvesting began in mid-February.
