CeCe Krumrine honored at New York Produce Show
CeCe Krumrine, who has represented the National Mango Board and the California Avocado Commission for a long time, received the Eastern Produce Council's third annual Woman of Distinction Award Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 2, at the New York Produce Show, held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan.

C&C Produce holds third annual Harvest to Market Open House
C&C Produce held its third annual Harvest to Market Open House Dec. 2. The event featured 40 local growers and producers that set up tables with pictures and samples of their products. More than 300 people were in attendance, ranging from major retailers to local chefs and everything in between.
“It's a great chance for people all across the food supply chain to meet with the people actually growing their food,” said Nick Conforti Jr. of C&C Produce.
The open house also featured tours of the company's facility.
A&P gets $1 million offer for Pathmark IP
The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co. Inc. has received a $1 million offer for its Pathmark intellectual property assets. Last week K-50-15 Corp., a subsidiary of Foodtown operator PSK Supermarkets, and A&P submitted the offer for approval in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York.
Kings Food Markets sees several executive promotions
Kings Food Markets has announced several executive changes at the company. Judy Spires, formerly president and chief executive officer, has recently been named chairman and CEO. Rich Durante will take on the role of president and chief operating officer.
PAIA names co-chairmen for 2016-17 term
The Peruvian Asparagus Importers Association announced the recent election of new chairmen for the 2016-17 term. Elected by a member vote at the meeting in October were Walter Yager of Alpine Fresh in Miami and Jay Rodriguez of Crystal Valley Foods, also in Miami.
Washington potato supplies could be tight this marketing season
Chris Voigt, executive director of the Washington State Potato Commission, said the 2015 harvest has generally been picture perfect. “This was one of the smoothest harvest seasons we’ve had in Washington,” he told The Produce News. “There were no major delays, and the crop got into the barn much earlier than normal.”
Florida strawberry study aims to help boost profits
Florida's strawberry industry continues to evaluate strategies to produce outstanding fruit of the highest quality while at the same time providing growers with the best return on investment.
According to a University of Florida study, Florida and California combined produce 99 percent of domestic strawberries.
