This season, Organics Unlimited, headquartered in San Diego, is moving bananas into the Philadelphia market. “We just started going into Philadelphia a month-and-a-half ago,” said President Mayra Velazquez de Leon in late May. “We are shipping a container a week to test the waters.” The bananas are being shipped under the company’s “GROW” label. “There seems to be an interest in this,” she said.

Mi Pueblo emerges from Chapter 11, names new CEO
Mi Pueblo Foods, a San Jose, CA-based family-grown Hispanic grocery chain, announced its formal emergence from Chapter 11 reorganization after having completed a necessary financial restructuring. As part of this announcement, the company also named Javier Ramirez as president and chief executive officer. Ramirez will succeed Mi Pueblo founder Juvenal Chavez, who will be named chairman of the board.
