Fresh Farms adds Mexican cantaloupe deal
RIO RICO, AZ — Fresh Farms has added a Mexican cantaloupe deal to its product list. Jerry Havel, the director of sales and marketing for the firm, said the deal will run from Oct. 10 until mid-December.
This Nogales season, Fresh Farms will have more organic squash and will be offering organic grapes in the spring.
The “Nogales season” has extended for many companies, Havel noted. For Fresh Farms it now runs from September until July. “By Oct. 10, the town is active,” Havel noted.
Healthy Trends growth marked by change
NOGALES, AZ — Two new shipping labels and a modern new location are on tap for Healthy Trends this fall, according to Bobby Astengo, a company partner who handles sales and marketing. Furthermore, Jorge Murillo joined the firm as a salesman on Oct. 5.
“We are ‘trending healthy,’ ” Astengo grinned.

Key Food acquires 23 A&P stores, saves 1,800 jobs
Key Food Stores Co-Operative Inc., a supermarket co-operative with independently owned and operated stores, will be adding 23 new stores that it is purchasing from the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Co, preserving approximately 1,800 jobs of current A&P employees. The purchase, which will bring Key Food to 212 stores, will add approximately $400 million dollars in annual retail sales and bring total annual retail sales to $2.3 billion dollars.

The United Fresh Produce Association is now accepting nominations for the 2016 United Fresh Retail Produce Manager Awards Program. The program will honor 25 outstanding retail produce managers at the United Fresh 2016 Convention June 20-22 in Chicago.
