Village Farms’ full line of greenhouse produce on display
Creativity beyond some imaginations seems to pour naturally out of Heathrow, FL-based Village Farms, a leading hydroponic producer with greenhouses located in the United States and Canada.
Helen L. Aquino, director of brand marketing and communications for Village Farms, said the company is again looking forward to exhibiting at the New York Produce Show and Conference on Dec. 1-3 at booth No. 646.
Florida, fresh produce a winning combo
Florida’s prominence as a supplier of quality fresh produce from the fall through spring seasons is underpinned by geography, diversity and industry know-how.
“Abnormally cold weather conditions and winter storms often pose the primary threat to healthy crop conditions and yields. Florida is fortunate to have most of its fresh market production come from the southern part of the state which has historically been less likely to experience cold damage,” said Aaron Keller, press secretary to Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam.

Albertsons names newest executive vice president
Albertsons has named Anuj Dhanda as its executive vice president and chief information officer. Dhanda will start Dec. 7. He was most recently with the Pittsburgh-based Giant Eagle supermarket chain, where he served as CIO and senior vice president of digital commerce.

USDA restricts PACA violators in seven states
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has imposed sanctions on seven produce businesses for failure to pay reparation awards issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act. The USDA announced the PACA sanctions Nov. 24.
