International Fresh Produce Association is calling for industry voices to vote for two SXSW Meet Ups that will bring floral and produce to the South By Southwest Conference in March of 2023. Voting closes Aug. 21.

The International Fresh Produce Association announced the winners of the IFPA Retail Produce Manager Awards Program. The program, sponsored by Dole Food Co., recognizes retail produce managers who represent the industry to the consumer and work every day to increase sales and consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables.  IFPA honored 25 of the industry’s top retail produce managers for this award.  

Hess Bros. is excited for the upcoming Eastern Apple season and has a few unique turns to play. “The biggest excitement at Hess Brothers continues to be the growth of our WildTwist program,” said Chris Sandwick, director of marketing for Hess Bros., based in Lancaster, PA. “WildTwist is a cross between Honeycrisp and Cripps Pink.  It is a late-harvest apple whose eating quality improves in storage.”

One of the most important reasons shoppers choose not to use a grocery delivery service is that they want to pay no more than necessary, which was tied with wanting to select their own produce, according to new shopper behavior research from Mercatus, fielded June 30 through July 1. Specifically, customers’ desire to pay no more than necessary was directed squarely at delivery’s additional service-related costs, not the prices paid for the products online.
