“We are heavy in apricots and plums, not real heavy in peaches and nectarines. BRS Produce Co. steadily picking up new customers at the new PWPM

John DiFeliciantonio, a partner-owner of Ryeco LLC, located on the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market, told The Produce News that the company is happy to announce that it has joined forces with Tom Aupperle, a highly experienced logistics’ expert, to form a new company called MVP Logistics LLC.
RJO will use new proprietary scoring system and mobile ap for stone fruit inspection
Last October, RJO Produce Marketing in Fresno, CA, and FoodLink in Los Gatos, CA, announced the formation of a strategic partnership under which RJO inspectors would use a proprietary, patent-pending system on mobile devices to provide customers with “detailed analysis and high-resolution pictures at the time of shipment,” with the information “automatically updated to the FoodLink network and available for review by the retail buyers.”
SGS has a complete program in cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines and plums
From May through October, beginning with cherries and apricots and continuing with both white flesh and yellow flesh peaches and nectarines as well as plums, Scattaglia Growers & Shippers in Traver, CA, has “a complete program on all commodities in the stone fruit category, and all colors,” according to Managing Partner Louis Scattaglia.
Importantly, the varieties the company has in its program have been selected for flavor, Mr. Scattaglia said. “Over the last eight to 10 years, we have been transitioning out of varieties that didn’t have the best eating quality.”
John Vena increasing volume with company’s major products
“We are very excited to be celebrating our second anniversary in this new facility,” said John Vena, president of John Vena Inc., located at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market. “We operate from five units: F-1 through F-5. Our traditional wholesale business operates from units F-1 through F-4. Unit F-5 is totally dedicated to the avocado business. There we built our own state of the art ripening rooms, and we do storage and distribution for West Pak Avocado Inc., our partners in the avocado business.”
Family Tree Farms has full white flesh nectarine lineup plus new specialty varieties
Special varieties of stone fruit are very much the stock in trade for Family Tree Farms Marketing LLC in Reedley, CA, and this year the company has several new varieties either just coming on line or coming into fuller production that merit special mention, according to Dovey Plain, marketing coordinator.
In addition, Family Tree Farms now has a full line of white flesh nectarines, selected for their flavor, something “that we have been working on for several years,” to complement the company’s strong white flesh peach program, Ms. Plain said.
