Muzzi Family Farms, a longtime Salinas, CA, grower relatively new to the sales end of the deal, has recently created two new sales positions and filled them with industry veterans.
Paul Mocettini has joined the Muzzi sales team as vice president of sales and marketing, effective April 21. He is managing the sales team, as well as seeking out new business opportunities.

United Fresh names honorees of Retail Produce Manager Awards Program
Marking its 10th year of recognizing exceptional retail produce managers, United Fresh announced the honorees of its 2014 Retail Produce Manager Awards Program. Stellar using CA storage to extend its Chilean kiwi crop
For the first time in its more than 25-year history with the fruit, Madera, CA-based Stellar Distributing Inc. is putting some of its Chilean kiwifruit in controlled atmosphere storage in California to extend its marketing season.
Sales Manager Kurt Cappelluti said a severe frost in Chile during the early part of the year cut that crop's volume in half and many of his suppliers are already running out of fruit.
EPC returning to Philadelphia for May meeting

E. Armata enjoying every day in newly rebuilt Hunts Point facility
E. Armata, a fourth-generation family run fruit and vegetable wholesaler completed a major renovation project at its location on Hunts Point Produce Market in the Bronx, NY, last November.
“It was a major renovation and was also done in an expedient manner,” Paul Armata, vice president of the company, told The Produce News. “We broke ground on the project last April. It was a major gutting and rebuilding from the ground up.”
