EPC returning to Philadelphia for May meeting
EPC returning to Philadelphia for May meeting
The Eastern Produce Council is holding its May meeting at the Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market on May 13. This will be the second meeting at the state-of-the-art PWPM facility, following its successful inaugural event in 2012, which drew more than 240 attendees.
The format for the 2014 event will differ from 2012 with the addition of a well-known Philadelphia celebrity keynote speaker. The afternoon and evening event will feature guided tours of the facility, a cocktail reception, a performance by the Ferko String Band and an appearance by Lauren Hart, who will sing the national anthem. Ron Jaworski, former quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, will keynote the event.
Jaworski has successfully taken his leadership skills from the gridiron to the boardroom defining the lines where sports meets business. He has always exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit and currently owns a professional sports team, a business relationship company and four golf courses.
Jaworski and his family strive to give back to the community and put their heart and soul in their foundation, Jaws Youth Playbook, which helps improve the overall health and wellness of at-risk youth, primarily in the greater Philadelphia area.
"We welcome the Eastern Produce Council back to Philadelphia," Sonny DiCrecchio, president and chief executive officer of the PWPM, said in a press release. "The last meeting drew over 240 guests and visitors. We are very excited to have a bigger and better event planned for May. We are very pleased to present Mr. Jaworski."
Paul Kneeland, president of the Eastern Produce Council, added in the press release, "We are thrilled to be back in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia Wholesale Produce Market is a state-of-the-art facility that is critical to the produce industry in the greater Philadelphia area and beyond. The folks at the PWPM have done a great job pulling together Philadelphia Night."
The event will kick off with facility tours from 4:30 to 5:30, followed by a cocktail reception. Dinner and Jaworski's keynote address begin at 7 p.m. Those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve space online or contact the EPC. There are several sponsorship opportunities available.
