A new “smart fridge” will allow ShopRite customers to do their food shopping with the centerpiece kitchen appliance – the family fridge.
TPIE ‘Elevating Expectations’ in Fort Lauderdale

SAF’s Petal It Forward campaign releases video
The Society of American Florists’ Petal It Forward event that took place nationwide in October just keeps giving, according to an association news release. To keep the momentum of the positive messages about receiving and giving flowers going, SAF produced a two-minute video, funded by the Association of Colombian Flower Exporters, and the video captures the positive effect the campaign had on the lives of thousands of consumers.
It’s a tie for Pantone’s Color of the Year
For the first time since it began naming the Color of the Year in 2000, Pantone’s selection for 2016 Color of the Year is actually two colors — Serenity and Rose Quartz. The company’s website states the colors are “a harmonious pairing of inviting shades that embody a mindset of tranquility and inner peace. As consumers seek mindfulness and well-being as an antidote to the stress of modern day lives, welcoming colors that psychologically fulfill the yearning for reassurance and security are becoming more prominent.”
SpartanNash to supply Gordy's Market as primary wholesaler
SpartanNash has signed a long-term contract to be the primary wholesaler to Gordy's Market, one of the largest locally owned and operated grocers in the western Wisconsin area. Gordy's will be serviced out of SpartanNash's St. Cloud, MN, distribution center. SpartanNash will begin distributing to Gordy's in mid-February and will be servicing Gordy's as its primary distributor by May 2016.
Chilean Fresh Fruit Association on its game again this season
On Dec. 16, the first breakbulk shipment of Chilean winter fruit arrived in the United States at the port of Wilmington, DE. The shipment marked the sixth consecutive season for the arrival at the port. Prior to this shipment, only blueberries and cherries from Chile were in the U.S. market.
