The Colombia Avocado Board announced shipment increases of more than three times the total avocado volume shipped to the U.S. during the first part of 2024 compared to the same period last year based on a review of the Hass Avocado Board Volume Data Dashboard and Category Data Dashboard.

The Colombian Hass avocado industry announced an initiative that seeks to mitigate greenhouse gases to prevent ecological risks and counteract climate change and its impact on biodiversity.

The goal of the initiative, known as the Carbon Hass Project, is to achieve the sustainable development goals in the agricultural sector, which are in line with the country’s institutional framework.

Avocados from Peru held two recent events in San Diego and Chicago that raised awareness of avocados while also benefiting the less fortunate. The events featured guacamole challenges and were in celebration of National Avocado Day.

According to Xavier Equihua, president and CEO of the Peruvian Avocado Commission, these events were a continuation of a tradition started in 2017 by AFP of providing healthy avocados for similar challenges in many of the top U.S. cities.

Though the avocado market has experienced numerous events that have led to some unsettled times over the first seven months of the year, Peter Shore, vice president of production management for Calavo Growers Inc., Santa Paula, CA, is anticipating a steady marketing situation for the remainder of 2024. However, he did note that change is constant and outside factors could alter those expectations.

They officially joined the organization as sales managers in June and have been instrumental in selling the KickHass brand since Founder Felipe Perez began importing Mexican avocados into the United States.
