As its name implies, Vidalia onions are the company specialty of Vidalia Sweet Produce LLC. Since 2008, the farming corporation has been a big-time player in the production, shipping and sales of Vidalia sweet onions.

“Sweet onions make up 75 percent of the company’s total sales,” said Tina Collins, chief executive officer of the Cobbtown, GA-based company. “We do everything from seed-to-table.”

LG Herndon Jr. Farms has partnered with the Gary Sinise Foundation for the 2022 Vidalia onion season. This partnership will have two periods during the Vidalia onion season where the onions will be shipping with special co-branded packaging that highlights the work of the foundation, the Memorial Day Promotion (May 16-30) and the July 4th Promotion (June 20-July 4).

Vidalia onion lovers can rejoice because the Georgia Department of Agriculture and the Vidalia Onion Committee announced the iconic sweet onion is set to ship with an official pack date of April 12 for the 2022 Vidalia onion season.

For more than 20 years, John Shuman, president and CEO of Shuman Farms, has been a key driver of cause-marketing in the produce industry. Through programs like Healthy Family Project, the Feeding America bag promotions and supporting breast cancer awareness in October, giving back has always been a priority for Shuman and his company.  

Stanley Farms and Richter & Co. have partnered in a significant Vidalia onion program, which will enhance and further strengthen their existing year-round onion program. 

“Given our national reach and distribution model, this will represent a huge opportunity for our customers,” said Jarrod Snider, director of sales for Richter. 

The two organizations have partnered together since 1975. This strategic move will position the organization for continued growth and expansion well into the future.
