Verdant Technologies is expanding the adoption of its HarvestHold Fresh product in Canada to improve the sustainability and efficiency of the North American broccoli supply chain.

HarvestHold Fresh is an in-box sheet that uses an industry-standard ingredient, widely used in commodities like apples and flowers for more than two decades to extend freshness and shelf-life.

The Canadian Produce Marketing Association Convention & Trade Show will be in Vancouver this year on April 23-25 at the beautiful Vancouver Convention Center and Village Farms Fresh has much to celebrate. This time frame happens to coincide with the initial harvesting of Village Farms’ new local British Columbia-grown crop.

Hutch Morton, senior vice president of the Toronto-based company, noted 2024 has seen a little slower start than the previous year, but much of that has been weather and product related.

The beginning of 2024 has been incredibly promising for Red Sun Farms.

“We’ve gained valuable insights into our operational disease control measures, and we’re eager to witness their positive effects on yields throughout the rest of the growing season,” said Harold Paivarinta, senior director of sales for the Kingsville, ON-based company. “Additionally, our team has been revitalized by the numerous product innovations.”

Since nearly 90 percent of New Jersey’s fruit and vegetable exports are bound for Eastern Canada, the New Jersey Department of Agriculture will not be attending the Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s 2024 Convention + Trade Show this year as the show is in Vancouver.

Still, the department values its neighbors to the north and is paying attention to what’s happening at the show.

Canadian National Railway has participated in the Canadian Produce Marketing Association’s Convention and Trade Show in the past, but 2024 marks a big step for the company, as it will be hosting a booth at this important event for the first time.
