Matthews Ridgeview Farms, a fifth-generation, family-owned grower and distributor, has a rich history of delivering top-quality produce with 4,000 acres of farmland dedicated to sweet potatoes. 

“We grow, pack and ship sweet potatoes in bulk and value-added packaging,” said Autumn Campbell, sales manager for the Wynee, AR-based company. 

The Louisiana Sweet Potato Commission, coming off its 70th year of promoting the growers and produce professionals who provide people with delicious and nutritious sweet potatoes in the state, is looking forward to 2023. 

In fact, leaders of the commission spent late January at the 61st National Convention of the U.S. Sweet Potato Council in Wilmington, NC, meeting with other experts about the best ways to help Louisiana growers and improve things for the entire industry.

Del Rey Avocado, with more than 50 years of experience, has been blessed to be part of the meteoric rise in popularity of avocados across the world. 

“The two things that have contributed to this success are our growers and customer base,” Patrick Lucy, the president of the Fallbrook, CA-based company said. “We do not do anything at Del Rey Avocado until we can answer a simple question: ‘Is it good for our growers?’ If the answer is yes, then most of the time it will be good for us as well.”

As a fifth-generation-owned family farm, Mother Earth has a long legacy in organic mushrooms that has earned the company a great deal of respect.

Today, Mother Earth manages 53 growing houses throughout southern Chester County in West Grove, Oxford and Landenberg, PA, and has built a robust legacy in the organic mushroom industry. 

In 2022, the company saw success on many levels and enter 2023 in a good frame of mind.  

Although organic produce has been increasing in sales for more than a decade, ever since the pandemic, the numbers have grown even stronger as more people associated organic with being healthier and safer.

The North Carolina Sweetpotato Commission Inc. is a nonprofit corporation made up of more than 400 sweetpotato growers along with the packers, processors and business associates that support them. 

“The sole purpose of the commission is to increase sweetpotato consumption through education, promotional activities, research and honorable horticultural practices among its producers,” said Michelle Grainger, executive director of the commission.
