Walmart recently committed to opening or converting more than 150 stores in the next five years – with its smaller Neighborhood Market format set to benefit. Two new stores, one in the Dune Lakes area of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, the other in the Vine City neighborhood of Atlanta, are the first to open under the new initiative.

Next month, The International Fresh Produce Association’s The Floral Conference – Miami will take place June 18. The conference will provide a fully immersive experience for the floral supply chain to explore six critical industry shifts.  Through an interactive schedule of events, attendees will connect with each other and with pivotal research on the shifts in consumer behavior and floral sales.
 

Target will lower everyday regular prices on approximately 5,000 frequently shopped items across its assortment. The retailer has just reduced prices on about 1,500 items, with thousands more price cuts planned to take effect over the course of the summer. Consumers will enjoy savings on everyday items such as fresh fruit and vegetables, snacks, milk, meat and bread.

Last year, the timing for figs was thrown off because of weather issues, but this year things are back to normal, which is great news for The Specialty Crop Co., one of the largest growers of fresh and dried figs in the world.
