The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced the appointment of 25 industry representatives to serve on the Fruit and Vegetable Industry Advisory Committee. Among those appointed are several members of the International Fresh Produce Association, underscoring the association’s leadership in shaping the future of the U.S. produce industry.

JOH has promoted Heather Griffin to director of produce retail. She brings nearly two decades of experience and leadership to her new role.

Griffin began her journey with JOH in 2007 as a part-time retail merchandiser for produce. Within a few years, her exceptional work ethic and commitment earned her a full-time position. In 2012, she was promoted to produce retail supervisor for New England.

Janis (Jan) Berk, former partner-owner of San Miguel Produce Inc. (SMP) and a recognized agriculture industry leader and advocate, has retired as chief operating officer of the central coast fresh produce grower and distributor after more than 20 years with the company. Together with her husband, SMP founder and former President/CEO Roy Nishimori, Berk has been instrumental in building SMP into a national leader and innovator in the fresh-cut, specialty vegetable market.
