Delta Packing to handle sales and marketing for Discovery Garden's potato line
Delta Packing, a grower-packer-shipper of fresh cherries and wine grapes, is now the exclusive sales and marketing agent for Discovery Garden's line of potatoes.
According to Delta Packing, this partnership, which went into effect Oct. 1, allows it to grow in providing a broader range of commodities offered to their customers, as well as diversification for Delta Packing.

Country Fresh Mushroom appoints new president/COO
Country Fresh Mushroom Co. announced Oct. 2 the hiring of Jeff Busch as president and chief operating officer, replacing Jim Howard.

FPFC meets in Southern California
The Fresh Produce & Floral Council held a regular membership luncheon meeting on Oct. 1 at the Sheraton in Cerritos, CA. There were more than 200 attendees at the event who listened to keynote speaker Conan Nolan, a local television broadcaster on the political scene.
USDA revokes preferred PACA treatment for Canadian shippers
Clearly as retaliation for inaction on the part of Canada with regarding to establishing some type of trust protection from bankruptcy for all fresh produce shipped into the country, the U.S. Department of Agriculture has revoked the specialized treatment Canadian shippers have received under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act for decades.
SunFed continues to expand sales force
As SunFed gears up for the 2014 season, it continues to add to its sales staff. Kevin Partida joined the team Aug. 25, giving Sunfed its first California office. Partida brings close to 20 years of experience to the team.
The SoCal location will allow him to work closely with West Coast retailers, wholesalers and food service operators.

Schulz & Sons, Inc., located in Crystal, ND. Over the last three years, truck transportation “has been an issue, with it getting worse every year. This year, will it be worse or better? The indications are that it will still be a challenge.”
