Richard Ruiz, president of Ruiz Sales in Edinburg, TX, a leading importer and distributor of Mexican limes, said Nov. 20 that the current market is $22-24 for a carton, which is several dollars higher than this time last year. The 2014 lime market eventually soared to record levels, far eclipsing the $100 mark at periods during the spring.
Deadline nears for incentive funds to increase produce consumption
The deadline to submit an application for the first round of funding under the farm bill’s Food Insecurity Nutrition Incentive Grant Program is Dec. 15. Duda Farm Fresh Foods, headquartered in Oviedo, FL, is currently promoting its “Radishes Reinvented” radish products, and will be featuring the line at the New York Produce Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center North Hall on Dec. 2-4.
“We will be exhibiting at Booth No. 602 at the show,” said Nichole Towell, marketing director for the company.
“And we want to tell visitors how to reduce their radish shrink,” she continued. “‘Dandy’ fresh-cut radishes are available year-round for retailers’ nutrition and convenience seeking shoppers.”
