Dole issues bagged spinach recall
Dole Fresh Vegetables has issued a voluntary recall for some cases of its Dole spinach bagged salad due to a possible health risk from Salmonella. The salads were distributed in 13 states: Connecticut, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Wisconsin.

Consumers can expect fewer Ontario apples on the market this fall and it’s all due to unfavorable weather during this past growing season.
A spring frost the night of May 22-23 that affected many of the province’s apple-growing regions is responsible for much of the decline in this year’s apple crop, which is estimated to be down about 50 percent from normal years.

Fresh Summit sessions to put focus on global trade
On the heels of the Trans-Pacific Partnership that was confirmed Oct. 5, the Produce Marketing Association will include two educational sessions on global trade during the upcoming Fresh Summit convention in Atlanta.
Representatives from the Food & Agricultural Organization of the United Nations, the Port of Los Angeles, Northwest Horticultural Council, Maersk and Camposol will address conference attendees on Friday, Oct. 23, to discuss international trade agreements, as well as shipping challenges.
