The New York Apple Association is ready to celebrate the Big Game with The Big Flavor of New York apples.

This year, NYAA is launching a Game Day video featuring Bob for Apples from New York, along with reminding retailers to cross-merchandise with Game Day snacks and “appletizers.” Cross-merchandising ideas for Game Day include football charcuterie boards and trays and apple pairing ideas with cheese and dips. 

The International Fresh Produce Association’s Foundation for Fresh Produce board of directors for 2024 will see Chair-Elect Alex DiNovo of DNO Produce stepping into the role while 2023 Chair Martha Hilton, vice president of produce and floral at Wegmans, retires as chair and continues to serve on the board for one more year.

Several tropical storms in October, including two hurricanes (Lidia and Otis), have combined with cold winter weather to severely limit supplies of vegetables from Mexico’s main winter production areas.

“Unfortunately, there is no way around it that this entire season out of Sinaloa will be one of the most challenging on record,” said Patrick Cortes, vice president of sales for Divine Flavor, which is headquartered in Nogales, AZ.

Infinite Herbs & Specialties Co-Founder Camilo Penalosa will step away from the company's daily operations and assume an advisory role Jan. 31. Philipp Harlov will be promoted to vice president of sales and marketing, assuming Penalosa's former customer responsibilities.

Penalosa launched Infinite Herbs more than 20 years ago with CEO Gregorio Berliavsky. From the beginning, Penalosa led the company's sales, marketing and business development, with Berliavsky overseeing the administration functions.

Bonduelle Fresh Americas has unveiled a new corporate brand visual identity and logo. The new corporate logo is now the standard across all of Groupe Bonduelle’s business units and contains visual elements intended to highlight attributes of the company as a leading global producer of plant-rich meals and vegetable products.

GrubMarket has successfully acquired Oregon- and California-based JC Cheyne, a highly regarded fresh produce business that is widely known as the “wholesale house of the finest onions and potatoes in the Bay Area.”
