Retailer Metro and the Too Good To Go app announced a major partnership, aimed at offering shoppers a new way to save on their grocery bills while helping to reduce food waste.

Customers can now reserve surprise assortments of the day’s unsold fruits and vegetables via the Too Good To Go application. Each assortment is sold at only $7.99, for a value of $24.

To Divine Flavor’s Chief Marketing Officer Alan Aguirre Camou, the company’s value in the marketplace is tied directly to its three founders and the vision they established decades ago in the Sonoran Desert of Mexico.

“We are one of the largest grape producers in the world,” he said, “and at the start of the season we always talk about the crop and how it looks this season. But what is more important is what happened when we were founded 30 years ago and how that is sustaining the brand through the next generation.”

Church Brothers Farms has begun shipping from 1250 Hansen Street in Salinas, which it acquired in April 2023 along with 1230 Hansen Street, 780, 806 and 889 Airport Boulevard. Combined, the properties include approximately 200,000 square feet of warehouse space on 18 acres of land. Built in 1978, the buildings were previously used for produce processing, cold storage and distribution.

BrightFarms, a trailblazer in indoor-grown leafy greens, is set to shine at the upcoming Viva Fresh produce trade show in Houston this April 11-13. The company will be stationed at booth No. 820, offering insight into the opening of its Lorena, TX, which will commence operations in fall 2024.

Tad Thompson, former writer and regional editor for The Produce News and a longtime advocate for the produce industry, died yesterday after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 69.

Mission Produce Inc. will be promoting its spring avocado and mango programs at the Texas International Produce Association’s Viva Fresh Produce Expo April 11-13, in Houston.
