Brighter Bites, a national nonprofit that delivers fresh fruits and vegetables directly into families’ hands, announces the close of its 2022/2023 programming. Over the past school year, Brighter Bites distributed over 7.5 million pounds of produce to 198 schools across 10 cities. Their impact reached more than 42,000 families and provided over 24,000 nutrition education lessons and 380 culinary demonstrations to students across the country.

It was only about a year ago when Edward L. Myrick Produce, which had decades of experience in Florida and Georgia, decided to open a Michigan facility to increase its year-round supply of fresh fruits and vegetables.

So, it began operations in Benton Harbor, once known as the Fruit Belt, and increased its presence in Michigan, allowing the company to supply customers with fresh eastern vegetables during the summer months.

Larry Tetner, a longtime produce veteran and a former owner of Northwest Produce Co., passed away peacefully on the evening of June 25 from complications associated with cancer. He was 78 and a resident of Lakeville, MN.

Fresh Solutions Network will showcase its newly re-designed Side Delights organic potatoes and onions at the Organic Produce Summit trade show July 13, 2023, in Monterey, CA. FSN partners Basin Gold Cooperative and Sterman Masser Farms will represent the Network at the show.
