The GIANT Co. in partnership with Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, announced the 23 recipients of its 2023 Healing the Planet grant program. Announced earlier this year, $300,000 in funding was awarded in support of projects that address food waste prevention, reduction, and recovery across The Giant Co.’s operating area.

Publix reached a milestone of more than $100 million donated to March of Dimes since 1995. Funds raised during Publix’s annual March of Dimes campaign help improve the health of moms and babies. 

This year alone, the Publix campaign raised nearly $6.4 million, earning the prestigious honor as March of Dimes’ No. 1 corporate partner for the eighth year in a row. 

The Global Coalition of Fresh Produce published the results of its survey conducted in the spring of 2023 to highlight the increasing costs of fruits and vegetable production around the world and their impacts on the whole produce industry and end consumers.

H-E-B has opened a new eCommerce fulfillment center in Plano, TX, a project that expands the retailer’s commitment to integrate innovative technologies that drive omnichannel growth and provide a more convenient and better shopping experience for Texans.  

As part of its ongoing nutrition advocacy work and in response to a bill that would strip fruit and vegetable Cash Value Benefits from the Special Supplementary Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, more than 70 allied associations and members of the International Fresh Produce Association joined with the organization in a sign-on letter opposing these cuts. The letter was sent to Capitol Hill prior to the House Appropriations Committee voting on the bill on June 14 and the Senate Appropriations subcommittee voting on June 22.
