What lies ahead for 2025, and beyond?

The online grocery market ended December 2024 with $9.6 billion in monthly sales, an 18.7 percent increase over last year as all three fulfillment methods posted year-over-year sales gains according to the Brick Meets Click/Mercatus Grocery Shopper Survey. December marks the fifth straight month of eGrocery sales above $9.5 billion and caps off a year that essentially reflected two periods: before and after the appearance of discounted promotions on subscriptions and/or membership programs.

Walmart has made a comprehensive brand refresh. The company said its brand identity has evolved to reflect what the retailer offers today, while honoring what has always been special about the one-stop shopping destination. The business has grown to meet the changing needs and wants of its customers, and the company said this updated brand identity will better represent who Walmart is today. 

I will never forget the first time I stood in a field full of cabbage, as the director of produce recovery at Feeding Florida, and a grower asked me, “what options do we have?”  The grower missed the sales window due to inclement weather events early in the season, and hundreds of acres of beautiful cabbage were nearing the point of becoming compost.
