With more than 8,000 tons shipped to North America through Week 20, the Chilean Kiwifruit season is under way.  Retail promotions will kick off in mid-June and continue through August.

Zespri’s account managers will be at booth No. 621 to meet with retailers during the SEPC Southern Exposure trade show in Orlando, FL, March 2-4. The booth will showcase Zespri’s new merchandising displays with updated graphics highlighting this year’s Taste the Obsession marketing campaign. Taste the Obsession showcases the brand’s passionate commitment to sharing high-quality, refreshingly sweet kiwifruit to ignite the good in consumers’ days. 

As the highly anticipated, in-person IFPA Global Produce & Floral Show opens its doors to industry professionals, retailers can stop by the redesigned Zespri booth (No. 2487) to meet with regional and international staff and learn how Zespri  SunGold kiwifruit is driving the category to new levels.

Wild River Fruit expanded its certified organic gold kiwifruit program. The third-generation company’s first block of gold kiwi was certified organic in 2018, but its limited volume has quickly sold out in recent seasons. This year, Wild River has completed a successful transition of additional maturing acreage and expects to be offering a season-long program as a complement to its organic green kiwifruit program, from October through the winter.

Zespri’s first-ever charter vessel to the U.S. arrived in the port of Los Angeles on May 9, delivering SunGold kiwifruit to meet growing consumer demand. This shipment kicks off another anticipated season as more and more consumers look for delicious and nutritious options to add to their basket.

First bringing red kiwifruit to North America nearly a decade ago and again in recent seasons, Oppy is looking to build the market with this category complement through a fresh crop from Italy and Greece.

In 2020, Oppy supplied over 30 percent of all kiwifruit available in the North American market, according to U.S. Census Bureau Trade Data and Statistics Canada. Oppy is employing new ways to optimize the expanding shelf spaced dedicated to the nutrient-dense fruit.
