With several winter holidays around the corner, the Bee Sweet Citrus team has a wide array of citrus varieties available for customers.

A heavy crop of Satsuma mandarins from the Sweet Valley Citrus Region are maturing and will begin shipping about two weeks ahead of the 2021 season. “The 2022 crop looks great,” said Kim Jones, current president of Cold Hardy Citrus Association. “Color break has been early, brix is already testing as high as 11 which indicates exceptionally sweet, flavorful fruit, and we predict the volume to be higher than anticipated.”

In talking with California orange growers, the transition from Valencias to Navels has already begun — as well as plenty of good-quality imported clementines. There is still a light supply of imported Navel oranges arriving in Philadelphia ports.

Sunkist is one of the longest-standing agricultural cooperatives in the nation, as its roots date back to 1893. Today, Sunkist grows nearly 40 different varieties of fresh, premium citrus, including oranges, lemons, mandarins, grapefruit, tangerines and tangelos.  

Salix Fruits will be promoting its multiple citrus options during the upcoming IFPA convention. “We are experts of imported citrus,” said Juan González Pita, co-founder and COO of Salix Fruits. “We’re importing oranges from Uruguay and lemons from Mexico. Soon, we’ll include Mexican oranges as well as Spanish and Moroccan citrus to our offer for the last quarter of the year.”

Fowler Packing Co., a family-owned and operated farming operation in Fresno, CA, acquired, in partnership with Ag Partners Capital, SunWest Fruit Co., a citrus and tree fruit operator in Parlier, CA.

As a result of the acquisition, Fowler Packing will add to its holdings over 10,000 acres of premier farmland in coveted water districts. The acquisition represents one of the most significant agricultural transactions in California.
