Bobalu Berry Farms continues to celebrate 60 years in business with yet another milestone.  For the first time, the company has offices in the Watsonville/Salinas area.

Like many companies, for the last couple of years the sales team has been working remotely with occasional time spent at headquarters in Oxnard due to the pandemic.  Now, as the country gets back to somewhat normal business, Bobalu Berries made the decision to establish a new sales office on the central coast.

Goldenberry Farms is looking to boost the profile of its namesake fruit in the United States while also improving the lives of the farmworkers who grow it. The U.S.-based company, which has an operations hub in Colombia, is a grower, packer and exporter of exotic and tropical fruit.

The Well•Pict trade show crew will be at the CPMA 2022 convention and trade show in Montreal, QC. The timing is perfect because spring has sprung and Well•Pict Berries is ready for its busiest season of the year.

“Recent rains in Oxnard and Santa Maria have caused a harvest disruption, but the overall benefits far outweigh the temporary pause on picking,” said Dan Crowley, vice president of Well•Pict. “As the rain drives down the salt buildup in the soil, it acts as a natural fertilizer that we call 'sweet water.'"

California Strawberries kicks off peak season with the launch of its national Love, Strawberries jingle contest. Running April 1-22, aspiring musicians and strawberry enthusiasts alike are encouraged to write, record and post their original 45-second jingle masterpieces highlighting the love people have for the famous heart-shaped berry via social media. California Strawberries will award one talented winner $10,000 plus an all-expense-paid trip for two to California.

As the industry celebrates National Farmworker Awareness Week, Homegrown Organic Farms announced its Northwest organic blueberry farms in Oregon have earned Equitable Food Initiative certification. The farms join Homegrown Organic Farms’ stone fruit program, which became EFI certified in 2020, further demonstrating the company’s dedication to its employees and associates. As a newly formed ESOP, Homegrown has partnered with its sister company to achieve and roll out this new certification.
