While the Well•Pict trade show crew is in its own backyard for the Organic Produce Summit, summer is in full swing — and so is the company's strawberry production.

While Wada Farms has expanded in recent years to include watermelon and some veg items, it is still very much known as a potato and onion house, and that is particularly true with its organic offerings. Wada’s organic line includes russet and varietal potatoes from late July through mid-April; onions from September to April; and sweet potatoes from October to early September.

Lakeside Organic Gardens, which has been growing and shipping organic vegetables for more than 25 years, has added organic artichokes to its product mix.

“We are super happy to be growing artichokes in the Lakeside label along the Central California coast,” said Sales Manager Brian Peixoto. “Our volume and quality are fantastic as artichokes thrive in this California coastal climate.”

Ocean Mist Farms is a grower-shipper that farms year-round in three ideal California growing regions — Castroville, Oxnard and Coachella, plus Baja, California. It features a wide variety of organic produce that is harvested and supplied to customers around the country, year-round.

In 2000, Ocean Mist Farms began cultivating organic artichokes. In 2015 the Ocean Mist Organic brand was introduced with a full line of fresh vegetables including leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, fennel, herbs and spinach.

Phillips Mushroom Farms offers a wide array of mushrooms — from conventional whites to organic portabella, and specialty mushrooms like Maitake, Lion’s Mane and Shiitake.

The Kennett Square, PA-based company, which has been growing mushrooms since 1927, also features customized retail packs, bulk sale assortments, foodservice packs and private label packages. As the company enters July, it’s seen some positive trends for 2022.
