Worley & McCullough continues its relationship with Wada Farms
MONTE VISTA, CO — Continuing its relationship with Wada Farms Marketing of Idaho, Worley & McCullough Inc. of Colorado expects to run 1.2 million hundredweight through its San Luis Valley packingshed during the 2014-15 shipping season.

Erin Cooper, grower relations and food safety officer at the family-owned operation, said Wada handles the domestic sales while exports and B-size spud sales are conducted out of the Colorado facility. Cooper, fifth generation of the McCullough family to grow potatoes in the region, said approximately 25 percent of the russet-based volume goes to Mexico.
In the two seasons since Worley & McCullough aligned with Wada, the operation has contributed to supplies that make the Idaho shipper one of the top suppliers for Walmart. W&M’s volume comes from four primary growers and another three to four outside growers.
Earlier in the year Cooper and Office Manager Victoria Peters traveled to a two-day GlobalGAP and HACCP training seminar in California, and with Cooper serving as grower liaison, the packingshed was certified and eight farmers obtained their GlobalGAP certificates as well.
The women said major upgrades are being eyed, and in the meantime general maintenance keeps the facility moving along at a brisk pace.
New to the program in 2014 for spuds marketed by Wada is a cross-merchandising program with Country Crock spread and McCormick’s Seasoning — a natural fit for potatoes throughout the year.
