Legend Produce, a leading importer and domestic producer of melons for more than 25 years, is partnering with premier Honduran grower-exporter Agrolibano and Yuma, AZ-based Kiss Melons to launch a winter specialty melon program.

Beginning in February and running through May, the program will deliver Sugar Kiss (orange-flesh) and Summer Kiss (green-flesh) melons grown in the prime melon regions of southern Honduras. 

Steve Young has rejoined Oppy as director of Canadian sales. In this role, Young will lead Oppy’s Canadian sales team with a focus on strategic growth, program expansion and strong alignment across sales, marketing and category teams.

The 2025 season for SweeTango apples was shaped by extreme drought across all of Next Big Thing’s growing regions, but despite the smaller sizing, the eating experience remained exceptional. 

“The SweeTango was amazing in taste and availability, but small,” said Jennifer Miller, executive director of Next Big Thing. For 2026, she noted that fruit will remain available into mid-June or July, offering retailers a longer runway than in previous years.

Amazon will be closing its Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh physical stores, converting various locations into Whole Foods Market stores and planning to invest in opening more than 100 new Whole Foods Market stores. The company said it failed to create a distinctive customer experience with the right economic model needed for large-scale expansion. 

Keystone Fruit Marketing, a division of Progressive Produce, is heading into the 2026 Mexican onion season with expanded grower partnerships, increased packing capacity and a highly promotable crop designed to support customer growth across retail and foodservice.

Innovation in the greenhouse vegetable industry is taking shape in Delta, BC, where Windset Farms is advancing a new smart-farming initiative designed to improve how crops are grown, monitored and managed in a changing climate. 

To mark the announcement, Windset Farms hosted Lana Popham, British Columbia minister of agriculture and food, to its Delta facility. The visit highlighted the importance of innovation in agriculture and how technology supports local food production, sustainability, and economic stability.
