Doral, FL-based Vega Produce, a grower, packer and importer of a broad line of Asian and conventional fruits and vegetables, is now operating a pre-cut division called Vega Precut, which is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
Company owners Alejandro Toro and Edin Mejia Jr. are excited to begin this new endeavor and have great expectations for Vega Pre-cut.

With products made fresh to order daily, Vega Precut strives to serve a "fresh, safe, useable product" for its foodservice customers, while maximizing its value-added opportunities with its customers and growers' interests in mind, according to a company press release.
Vega Produce operates out of a 45,000-square-foot facility with three temperature-controlled zones and a pre-cooler on the premises. It also employs a full-time agronomist to assist its growers.
Industry veterans Joe and Debi Hayden, who bring over 60 years of pre-cut experience to Vega, will be overseeing the pre-cut production, while Lloyd Rosen, sales manager of Vega, will work to establish the company's pre-cut sales, along with its sales team.
Vega Produce is audited by Primus Labs, and places food safety at the top of its priority list. The company grows, packs and imports a broad line of Asian and conventional fruits and vegetables from its own farms in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala and Honduras. Its location on the west side of the Miami International Airport is convenient to all major highways, including the I-75 corridors.
This fall, Vega plans to introduce a complete line of squashes, Roma tomatoes, Honeydew and personal size watermelon from over 1,500 hectares, or about 3,700 acres, in the Dominican Republic.
