As a thriving operator on the New England Produce Center, Garden Fresh Salad Co. continues to be a go-to resource on the Chelsea, MA market, where it maintains seven bays and a separate processing plant. The company continually updates its processing plant to ensure that it can serve its customers the best way possible.

First off, Gary Shields was appointed the new executive director earlier this year, bringing more than 30 years of expertise to the role. In his new position, Shields aims to leverage his extensive background, which includes 15 years in the packaging containment sector, with a keen focus on potatoes, to strengthen the association and support regional growers.

As the winter holidays approach, a demand for fresh produce often peaks, reflecting seasonal cooking traditions and festive gatherings.

For instance, cranberries, squash, and pumpkin are all big staples for a Thanksgiving-day meal, and all saw a rise in sales last month. Though there may be less demand for other winter holidays, these items are still being used for holiday meals.

A.J. Trucco, one of the largest importers of fresh produce, dried fruits and nuts from around the world, continues to be a force in the Bronx at the Hunts Point Produce Market.

The company offers a diverse range of produce, including kiwifruit, blueberries, limes, cherries, mandarins, lemons, pineapples, persimmons, fresh and peeled garlic, ginger and Italian chestnuts.

With the holidays here, the company is looking forward to a strong end of year as it heads into 2025.
