Village Farms Fresh has been recognized as a Giga Guru by Walmart through its sustainability initiative Project Gigaton. There are currently over 6,000 Walmart suppliers participating in Project Gigaton, and Village Farms Fresh is in the top 18 percent of suppliers who have earned the status of Giga Guru. 

Smith’s Farm made its name as a broccoli grower in Maine, but as its business grew it needed more production to keep up with retail clients’ needs for year-round product.

The company eventually added acreage in the Southeast to supplement its supply, and Georgia has emerged as one of the key regions for the company.

As spring unfolds and we look to warmer days, the National Mango Board is celebrating peak season with its Cinco de Mango campaign. This annual campaign encourages consumers nationwide to add fresh mango to their Cinco de Mayo dishes to combine rich mango culture with its beloved flavors for a festive twist on the traditional holiday.

The Fresh Produce & Floral Council held its 2024 Expo, Fresh Forward, on Wednesday, May 1, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. The day kicked off with the Keynote Breakfast, featuring the presentation of the prestigious Floral Achievement Award and the Norman H. (Buz) Bolstad Award. Chef Jeff Henderson, an award-winning celebrity chef and best-selling author, was the Celebrity Keynote speaker. The show floor was a packed with exhibitors and retailers throughout the day.

Instacart and The Save Mart Cos. expanded their omnichannel partnership featuring several Instacart in-store solutions such as Caper Carts, Instacart’s AI-powered smart carts, and FoodStorm, an order management system that powers foodservice and catering experiences purpose-built for grocery.

Currently Georgia is the main broccoli supply source for Virginia-based Parker Farms, which has a robust network of growers up and down the East Coast to allow it to supply crowns, bunched and value-added options every day of the year.
