Spring grape season shaping up at Giumarra
The Giumarra Cos. anticipates a good season with its Mexican grapes in 2016. “At this stage, quality and volumes look to be very good,” said Tom Wilson, grape sales manager. “We offer red, white and black seedless varieties during the Mexican grape season.”
Giumarra markets the red seedless Flame during May and June. White seedless varieties marketed are the Early Sweet, Sugarone and Perlette. “The Early Sweet variety is available in May. This is our early season proprietary white seedless variety,” Wilson told The Produce News. “Customers like its excellent sweet flavor with a hint of muscat. We will have good availability this year for the entire month of May.”
For black seedless, Wilson said Summer Royals are available May through June.
Giumarra markets grapes under the Nature’s Partner label and will also co-brand grapes with Sesame Street’s eat brighter! campaign.
“We service retail, wholesale and foodservice customers,” Wilson said. “Our spring grapes are distributed to our customers in the U.S. and Canada.”
