Spice World launching Black Garlic at PMA foodservice expo
“Spice World will be in booth number 129 at the PMA Foodservice Conference & Exposition,” said Louis Hymel, director of purchasing and marketing for the Orlando, FL-based company. “Mitch DiMarco, director of foodservice, and I will be there to greet attendees.”
Spice World’s new Black Garlic in one- and two-bulb packs and a 6.2-ounce jar peeled will be launched at the foodservice expo.Spice World is a leading grower, packer, processor and shipper of a wide range of spices, and a major producer, shipper and marketer of high-quality fresh, chopped, minced, roasted and whole-peeled garlic products.
“We will have all of our value-added garlic products on display at the event,” said Mr. Hymel. “And we’ll be introducing our 9.5-ounce ‘Squeeze Garlic’ in extra virgin olive oil, in both organic and conventional options.
“We’ll also be launching our new Spice World Black Garlic,” he continued. “It is available in one- and two-bulb packs, and in a 6.2-ounce peeled jarred option. We’ll have plenty of samples on hand at the PMA foodservice expo for people to try our great items for themselves.”
“Squeeze Garlic” has enjoyed nationwide acclaim since it was introduced a couple of years ago. The product comes in a convenient and easy-to-use squeeze bottle, and Spice World promotes it as “Good clean deliciousness, squeeze after squeeze after squeeze.”
Mr. Hymel said “Squeeze Garlic” is as easy to use as any other squeezable condiment, and that the packaging design and formulation is changing the way people use garlic.
“They aren’t just using it as an ingredient, but also as a condiment,” said Mr. Hymel. “Squeezing garlic on foods at the table is now being done in new ways that were not thought of in the past.”
Spice World grows its garlic in California, which is known for producing a highly flavorful and abundant crop year after year. Mr. Hymel said that in the company’s 63 years of business, it has specialized in supplying wholesalers, distributors, retailers and foodservice operations. The firm ships nationwide and exports to other countries.
“We have a nationwide network of foodservice distributors that carry the majority of our products,” explained Mr. Hymel. “Some of are handled through exporters for other areas of the world. Our network of distributors covers all arenas. Our product line offers many benefits to all segments within the foodservice sector.”
Foodservice, Mr. Hymel noted, has slowed in some markets due to the economy.
“However, people still need to eat, so it has affected the food industry less than other industries. We’re now seeing some recovery and lower fuel prices, so that’s helping to drive people back to dining out.”
Founded in 1949, Spice World continues to prove that integrity and innovation harvest quality. From the fertile soil of its farm in the San Joaquin Valley in California, to its coast-to-coast distribution and leading-edge processing plants, Spice World consistently delivers a fresh, flavorful supply of garlic nationwide.
The company follows the strictest guidelines and uses only garlic that meets its highest standards. Mr. Hymel said that the family-owned company is a leading provider of jarred garlic in American supermarkets today, and it provides outstanding service to its customers in all 50 states.
“We recently built an additional 40,000-square-foot, state of the art, long-term cold- storage facility in California,” said Mr. Hymel. “It will help us to accommodate our company’s continual growth.”
