Rice Fruit Co. supports retailers, from orchard-to-shelf
Rice Fruit Co., located in the heart of Pennsylvania’s apple country, receives, stores, packages and markets fruit for more than 40 farm families in the surrounding areas.
Later this month, Rice Fruit Co. will be attending Southeast Produce Council’s Southern Exposure to reconnect with longtime colleagues, meet new industry partners and engage in meaningful conversations across the produce supply chain.
“Southern Exposure provides the perfect setting to connect with retail partners, showcase our Sweet Natured apple varieties and discuss upcoming seasons and opportunities,” said Brenda Briggs, vice president of sales and marketing for the Gardners, PA-based company.
Joining Briggs at the show will be Kristi Kraft from the sales team, and the two will be situated at booth No. 402 where they invite attendees to stop by and chat and learn more about what Rice Fruit Co. has to offer.
“Visitors can expect engaging conversations about quality, consistency and how we support retail success from orchard to shelf,” Briggs said.
With 2026 underway, the company is noticing some trends among its customers.
“We’re seeing strong demand for transparency, dependable supply and great-tasting fruit that fits into everyday lifestyles,” Briggs said. “Rice Fruit Co. continues to adapt by investing in orchard practices, quality assurance and thoughtful variety selection to ensure our apples meet evolving consumer and retail needs.”
There’s also more focus on price among customers, which Briggs noted puts apples in a great position to be affordable and a nutritional powerhouse.
“Shoppers want fruit that delivers on taste, quality and consistency,” she said. “Retailers want partners who can support those expectations.”
That’s one of the things Briggs expects to be talking about at the show, but there are several areas of conversation that she is prepping for.
“Consumption is a big topic for the apple industry right now, alongside the Eat More Apples campaign that has begun,” she said. “This organization is leading the charge in increasing apple consumption across the USA and is a collaborative effort among apple suppliers nationwide.”
One of the core reasons for attending Southern Exposure is networking, which Briggs noted is essential regardless of the show.
“Face-to-face conversations strengthen trust, spark new ideas and help build the long-term partnerships that drive our business forward,” she said. “We are the Sweet Natured company for a reason. Strong relationships are the foundation of everything we do, from orchard-to-store-shelf. The opportunity to meet face-to-face, exchange ideas and strengthen trust plays a key role in long-term growth and successful partnerships. A successful show is one filled with meaningful connections. If we leave having strengthened relationships and uncovered new opportunities, it’s a win.”
Beyond the exhibit floor, Rice Fruit Co. plans to take part in educational sessions and networking opportunities that allow them to learn, share and grow alongside industry peers.
“We’re particularly excited about the Southern Roots Women’s luncheon, of which Rice Fruit Co. is a sponsor,” Briggs said.
Elsewhere, the company is set to break ground on a state-of-the-art storage facility in the spring, which will enhance its capabilities and flexibility to supply the very best apples.
