‘Seed to Plate’ is a Spice World mantra
“Seed to plate” is a mantra that Spice World, a leading grower and distributor of garlic, ginger and a wide assortment of other herbs and spices, lays claim to, and it backs it up by providing full traceability.
The Orlando, FL-based company, founded 67 years ago, became certified organic and began distributing its organic line over a decade ago. Since then, its organic line has grown continually.
Spice World’s organic and conventional ‘Squeeze Garlic’ line up with ‘Squeeze Ginger’ in perfect formation like little soldiers marching.Louis Hymel, director of purchasing and marketing, said that the company supplies conventional and organic product to a wide range of customer categories, including retail, wholesale, foodservice and industrial operators.
“Spice World’s specialty is garlic, and we therefore offer all our garlic items in an organic option,” said Hymel.
“We also offer organic fresh shallots. With the growing interest in our value-added ‘Squeeze Garlic’ we continue our strong promotional efforts on both conventional and organic options.”
Spice World’s garlic is produced in California, and its other products are produced in California and in other areas of the United States. It enjoys nationwide distribution, and it exports to many different parts of the world.
Besides its very popular “Squeeze Garlic,” the company’s fresh organic bulb garlic, sold loose and in a variety of packs, including cello and mesh bags are among the company’s strongest selling organic items.
“Consumer demand for organic products continues to increase annually,” said Hymel. “In order to meet this growing demand, we have increased some production equipment allowing for more industrial specification and increased volumes,” he continued.
“Since we already have coverage for the entire United States, we are looking to increase market share in some of these segments,” Hymel added.
He also said that the organic movement will continue to grow, and Mother Nature will always play her part from season to season.
“However, large producers such as Spice World will always be there, season to season,” he said. “Our customers will always attempt to fill their customers’ request whenever possible, and we do the same for them.”
