RP Distributing founder dies at 53
Renato Andres Parada, the founder RP Distributing in Nogales, died March 8 at the age of 53. He kept residences in Austin, MN and Tucson, AZ, and died at his summer home in Austin.
He was born Oct. 28, 1962 in Santiago, Chile, the son of Renato Parada and Raquel Parada Cangas. Mr. Parada attended The Grange British Academy in Santiago. He received his business degree from St. Thomas University in Miami.

Mr. Parada met Kathryn Redding on a cruise while she was traveling with her mother and he with a priest, and they were married June 15, 1985 in Miami. Though Mr. Parada spent over half of his life in the United States and cherished his time here, his heart was forever Chilean.
Mr. Parada started his produce career at International Multifoods in Minneapolis, then pursued further opportunities in California and Arizona before he founded RP Distributing in 1999. His company, through the loyal support of his employees, growers and buyers, is still operating today.

A man of faith and family, Mr. Parada set an example for strength and honor. His influences extended to many. He was a competitive man and lifetime athlete, enjoying soccer, rugby, tennis and golf. He represented Chile in the Junior World Golf Championship for two years. Favorite pastimes included good food, Chilean wine and tall tales. Mr. Parada also enjoyed a good Barcelona soccer match, traveling, entertaining, mountain views, sunsets over the ocean in Santo Domingo, Chile, and being surrounded by family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Parada; his five children, Renato James, Andres William, Nicolas Addison, Matias Paul and Priscilla Raquel; his mother; three sisters, Mane´, Andrea and Teresa; and one brother, Cristian. Mr. Parada was preceded in death by his father.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 12. Future memorial services will be held this spring in Nogales, AZ, and at a later date in Santo Domingo, Chile. In lieu of flowers, a college fund will be established for his children Matias and Priscilla.
