RBest handling about 300 organic items at any given time
RBest Produce Inc., headquartered in Port Washington, NY, imports well-known top-quality brands of produce from around the world.
The company specializes in organics, locally grown, ethnic specialties and it maintains a large variety of tropical exotic produce.
“We pride ourselves in providing premium produce from brands our customers know and trust,” said Jasmine Hines, director of marketing and advertising. “RBest Produce has handled organics for about 17 years, and we have always supported local farmers.”
RBest handles approximately 300 organic items at any given time. Its wide organic line ranges from fresh fruits and vegetables to herbs, juices, tofu, nuts, croutons and even organic salad dressings.
“Our strongest selling organic items are our value-added salads and leafy lettuce commodities like Romaine hearts, arugula and spinach,” Hines pointed out. “Apples, celery hearts, tomatoes, lemons and grapes are particularly strong organic items for us.
“We continually encourage our customers to go organic on all produce items because the consumer demand is increasing continually,” she added.
RBest is currently promoting organic winter citrus, and Hines said the company has a great supply of specialty oranges on offer, including Minneola tangelos, grapefruit, pummelos and other citrus items.
RBest also maintains and continuously promotes its large variety of prepackaged organic salads. It supplies brands such as “Earthbound Farm Organic,” “Fresh Express” and “Organic Girl.”
Hines noted that RBest’s organic line of produce is produced primarily in California, but it also sources from many other regions.
“Seasonally we work with local growers from New York, New Jersey and Long Island, as well as with international farms for items like organic ginger,” she said.
“Our target market is generally independent supermarkets but we are equipped to supply all types of foodservice operations,” Hines continued. “In October 2014, RBest warehouse facility achieved Primus GFS — Global Food Safety — certification, thereby opening more opportunities to service a wider range of clients that require these certifications.”
The company distributes throughout the tri-state area as well as Boston and Philadelphia.
Hines emphasized that organic diets are a big consumer trend right now and people are looking into healthier eating habits. The result is an increase in the demand for organics at RBest.
“Our organic customer base continues to grow,” said Hines. “We sell increasingly more organic products each quarter. This shows that organics are in demand and we are confident this demand will continue to grow. We work closely with our vendors and farmers which ensures that our customers receive the freshest product and the newest packaging.”
