Blueprints for 10 new Ray & Mascari Inc. tomato-ripening rooms are being completed late this spring. The construction will take place at the firm’s Indianapolis warehouse this fall, said family owner Rocky Ray.

A year-and-a-half ago, the firm opened a new 15,000-square-foot tomato repacking facility in Lakeland, FL.
The Florida facility “has really been a plus,” he noted. The facility “has really grown over the last year,” with a 29 percent increase in volume.
Overall, “business is good. Our customers are happy. We are on a good run,” he said.
About 60 percent of Ray & Mascari’s sales are to the foodservice market, with the remainder going to retailers.
