Promotions announced at Sobeys Quebec
Three promotions have recently taken place in the senior produce ranks at Sobeys Quebec.
Pat Calabretta, the former director of produce merchandising, was promoted to senior director of produce merchandising and buying. Simon Faucher was promoted to head buyer, and Francis Berube was promoted to head merchandiser.
In his new position, Mr. Calabretta, who has been with Sobeys Quebec for the past 11 years, will be in charge of merchandising, procurement and quality control.
"I find it is better for management because I am touching both sides," Mr. Calabretta told The Produce News. "It's enjoyable because one complements the other, and I love working in produce."
Christian Chouinard, director of product development for produce at Provigo, has been named the second vice president of the Quebec Produce Marketing Association.
Mr. Chouinard took the place of Robert Beauregard, who was recently transferred from Sobeys' Quebec division to its Ontario division in Toronto and unable to devote the time that was needed for the position on the QPMA's executive board.
Mr. Chouinard, who has worked in the produce industry for 25 years, has been a member of the association's board for the past five years and is happy with his new role in the association.
"I am very proud of the QPMA and what we do, and I think we do a great job," Mr. Chouinard told The Produce News. "We are really, really focused on produce consumption, and we want to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables in the province and around the country. My intention is to push for and improve the ways that we communicate that fruits and vegetables are good to eat. I also plan to stay focused on the good practices for companies selling produce."
