“Whalen Farms is a member of the Jersey Fruit Cooperative, so we also market their blueberries,” said Tom Beaver, director of sales and marketing for the Glassboro, NJ-based company.

Villita Avocados, a grower-packer-shipper of Hass avocados based in Pharr, TX, has introduced a new bag for retailers that wish to make their produce departments more sustainable.

With a label made of paper film and netting composed of cellulose fiber yarn from Forest Stewardship Council-certified eucalyptus wood, the bag is 100 percent plastic-free. The netting is TÜV-certified home compostable and industrial compostable. Villita is the first produce company to offer this innovative packaging in North America.

SUN VALLEY, ID — Each year at the Idaho Grower Shipper Association’s annual convention, the Idaho Potato Commission hosts an industry breakfast, where results of its marketing program for the past year are presented.

IPC Chairman Bryan Wada of Wada Farms first took the dais, remarking on the renewed level of passion to promote Idaho potatoes under the leadership of IPC President and CEO Jamey Higham, who joined the commission in January 2022.
