Hadley Date Gardens Inc. in Thermal, CA, which markets an assortment of date products in a variety of pack styles, rolled out the first of its square retail tubs “a couple of years ago,” and they are “starting to get a little more attraction now in the market,” Albert Keck, president of the company, said in an interview with The Produce News Aug. 31.

With the 2011 date harvest just getting underway, the square tubs “will be out there on the end caps of produce sections pretty soon,” he said. “This is a beautiful package. It really shows off the quality nicely.”

Setton International Foods, Inc., headquartered in Commack, NY, is a full-service provider of nuts, dried fruit, edible seeds, chocolate and yogurt panned items and candies to the snack industry. Paramount Farms Inc., which is headquartered in Los Angeles with farming operations and processing facilities centered in Lost Hills, CA, is one of the the larger growers and processors of California almonds and pistachios. The company markets California pistachios worldwide under the “Wonderful Pistachios” brand, offering a “wide range of packaged and in-shell varieties,” according to a company press release dated Sept. 1.

Aurora Products Inc. in Stratford, CT, is introducing two new trail mix varieties “to appeal to consumers’ varied tastes,” according to a company press release dated July 25. “Consumers now seek trail mixes with unique flavors and textures that provide a healthy sensory experience,” the release stated. The two new mixes, “Aurora Natural Crunchy Asian” and “Aurora Natural Red, White and Blue” have been formulated to “satisfy heightened taste buds and more attuned palates.”
