Specialty crop programs win big against competing priorities in draft Senate farm bill
WASHINGTON -- While other farm programs are slated for budget cuts, specialty crop programs would receive a bump up in the 900-page draft farm bill circulated April 20 on Capitol Hill.
The legislation would reduce funding for conservation, commodity and nutrition programs as the Congressional Budget Office estimates the draft bill would reduce direct spending by $26.4 billion over the 2013-22 period.
