Rainier Fruit Co., headquartered in Yakima, WA, will sample its new, exciting apple variety, Lady Alice, at this year’s Southeast Produce Council Southern Exposure trade show. “Production has increased since its introduction just a few years ago as its appeal with consumers has taken off,” Director of Marketing Suzanne Wolter told The Produce News Feb. 11. “Lady Alice is one of two exclusive varieties offered by Rainier that brings additional dollars into the apple category. The variety launched in early February and will be available through the end of April.

If the team from Nash Produce in Nashville, NC, is starting to look familiar, there is good reason for that. Over the past year and a half the company has become a fixture at trade events and a laser focus on top-notch marketing is beginning to make the Nash name known beyond sweet potato circles.

Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers plans to talk about its popular snaQ program and will roll out its new U-Pick the Flavors campaign at this year’s Southern Exposure expo.

“This builds on the snaQ program that promotes active lifestyles of today’s families,” National Marketing Representative Dan Wohlford told The Produce News Jan. 30. “U-Pick the Flavors conveys the flexibility to choose the flavor of apples and pears that are best for [customers].”

Doug McFarland, marketing director for Colorful Harvest LLC, headquartered in Salinas, CA, said that the company would be showcasing blueberries, strawberries and rainbow carrots at the Feb. 28-March 2 Southern Exposure Retail & Foodservice Conference & Expo in Orlando, FL.

“We will also be sharing news at the expo about our new Florida cooler with local Plant City management,” said Mr. McFarland. “This is an expanded southern blueberry program that we’ll be kicking off in March 2013.”

Attendees at this year’s Southern Exposure expo will have a chance to find out more about new programs being offered by Eagle Eye Produce. “We will be talking about our Advantage Potato Program as well as our Preferred Onion Program and Nogales Vegetable Program,” Vice President of Sales Lance Poole told The Produce News on Feb. 8. “We will also be talking to customers about our innovative new products such as our new Simply Good Simply Fresh, Flavorful Diced Potatoes.”
