US Foods Holding Corp. completed the expansion of its distribution center in Marrero, LA. The facility has nearly tripled in size and houses a full assortment of broadline items. It also includes a full-service demonstration kitchen and training center to support culinary innovation, as well as an interactive technology center where US Foods customers can learn about the company’s industry-leading, web-based business solutions.

Dole Food Co. Inc. is expanding its Dole Chopped! Salad Kit line with three new flavors this fall that showcase the latest global and regional flavor trends.

The three kits — Dole Chopped! Tropical Thai Salad Kit, Dole Chopped! Maple Pecan Salad Kit and Dole Chopped! Double Dill Salad Kit — contain no artificial colors or flavors and continue the Dole Chopped! tradition of combining fresh chopped Dole lettuces and vegetables with toppings and original dressings to offer a ribbon of flavor in every bite.

The Maryland Food Center Authority provides economical, sanitary and modern facilities for food-distribution companies operating in the state. That includes those working in the produce industry, through the Maryland Wholesale Produce Market in Jessup, MD.

The International Fresh Produce Association's pilot program project, which was submitted with a group of partners, has been selected by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to receive funding.  The project, titled A Vibrant Future, will incentivize growers of specialty crops to adopt climate-smart production in order to establish a consumer-driven, climate-smart market for fruits and vegetables grown using climate-smart practices. The approximate funding ceiling for the project is $15 million.

In partnership with customers, Food Lion will help provide at least 1 million meals to neighbors facing hunger through its annual Food Lion Feeds Apple Bag campaign. The campaign runs Sept. 14-Oct. 4 and benefits Feeding America and local partner member food banks throughout Food Lion’s 10-state operating area.
