One of the mainstays of the Hunts Point Terminal Market in the Bronx is A.J. Trucco, which first opened its doors 56 years ago.

The company’s retailers and partners are serviced by its sister company, Trucco Inc., out in Vineland, NJ, where there is a dedicated 75,000-square-foot state-of-the-art refrigeration and packaging facility. Trucco also offers 2,500 pallet positions, superior environmental, high-efficiency tech and brand-new advanced packing machinery, making the facility one of the most advanced on the East Coast.

However, as the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to change, the fall and winter months present a unique opportunity for produce managers to innovate and increase sales.

Goldenberry Farms, a grower, packer and shipper of high-quality fruit based in Miami, has announced a new sales and volume record with its fall-season themed “Scarily Good” fruit lineup.

The themed lineup was made available to retailers for pre-order in June and launched Sept. 5, which includes special packaging for tropical berries, “Sweet and Spooky RAMBOOS,” blood oranges, red dragon fruit, and loose “spikey” rambutan.

Retailers are offered complementary merchandising and assistance with local promotions.

Robert (Bob) Bassetti, a well-known produce industry veteran and longtime owner of B&B Produce in Hammonton, NJ, died in his sleep on Friday, Sept. 15. He was 83.
