PrimusLabs continues advancement of food safety with PrimusGFS Standard Version 2.1
PrimusLabs announced that the PrimusGFS Standard version 2.1 audit scheme has been successfully benchmarked to the Consumer Goods Forum’s Global Food Safety Initiative Guidance Document Sixth Edition. GFSI made the announcement effective Feb. 20, 2014.
Previously benchmarked under its version 1.6, Azzule Systems’ PrimusGFS standard remains the only privately held food-safety auditing scheme to meet GFSI standards. Also unique among those meeting the benchmark, Azzule Systems' offices are situated in the heartland of fresh produce in both the United States and Mexico. Its locations among agricultural growers, businesses and organizations allow it to be more responsive to the industry.
PrimusGFS Standard scheme aligns directly with PrimusLabs’ mission to primarily serve the fresh produce industry and the entire supply chain, covering pre-harvest and post-harvest production, cooling, packing, processing and storing.
“We’re very happy on behalf of our customers to see GFSI and Azzule Systems make this announcement,” Javier Sollozo, PrimusLabs director of auditing operations, said in a press release. “As a privately held scheme, PrimusGFS is responsive to its customers first and foremost, and I think that’s why we’ll continue to see success with it as a certifying body.”
“This is very good news for fresh produce,” Robert Stovicek, company president, said in the release. “PrimusLabs owes all of our success to the suppliers and buyers that continuously seek our services. For that reason we have to offer them the most effective tools for confirming food-safety programs in meeting industry standards. With the PrimusGFS Standard Version 2.1, I believe we can offer them a service that they merit.”
The particularly lengthy benchmarking process for PrimusGFS version 2.1 has proven Azzule Systems’ level of commitment in bearing the standard of innovation for the advancement of food safety. Their drive to remain responsive to buyers and suppliers in collectively anticipating the challenges facing the fresh produce industry is one of many reasons PrimusLabs will continue to champion PrimusGFS.
