Nature Fresh Farms’ very own Product Development Specialist Luci Faas has been recognized for her excellence in the produce industry.

The Canadian Produce Marketing Association has developed the Women in Produce initiative to recognize the achievements of outstanding women in the produce industry. Faas, along with nine other women, were nominated by industry peers for their contributions to promoting produce in the industry. The 10 honorees were recognized during CPMA’s Fresh Summit virtual event.

John Anderson, chairman, CEO and managing partner of The Oppenheimer Group, has been named the recipient of the 2021 CPMA Lifetime Achievement Award. He was honored at the CPMA Fresh Week.

Anderson is known for his strategic vision and outstanding leadership skills. He joined Oppy in 1975 when the company was a single office produce sales operation, earning just a few million dollars in annual revenue. He has since then become a leading grower, marketer, and distributor of fresh produce, generating a billion dollars in sales each year.

Fres Co, a produce distributor and importer located on the Hunts Point Terminal Market in the Bronx, NY, has added an experienced veteran to its sales team.

Magic Sun, a leading hydroponic grower in Mexico, is seeing continued growth and demand in its original tomato product line.  Over the last two seasons, the company has expanded its program to offer year-round conventional and organic tomatoes, and recently added Bell peppers and blueberries to its retail offering.

SpartanNash announced that David Petko has joined the company as senior vice president and chief supply chain officer, effective April 12, 2021. Petko has 25 years of supply chain and distribution logistics experience in roles of increasing leadership responsibility, including serving as senior vice president of supply chain for C&S Wholesale Grocers from 2019 to 2021.

Salvatore (Sam) Bertucci, who spent much of his life in the produce industry and the last 21 years at Catania Worldwide, died Saturday, April 10 in his home. He was 69 years old.
